Consumer Notification System

In keeping with the ongoing commitment to provide superior customer service to the residents of Penobscot County, Register of Deeds Susan F. Bulay is proud to offer a FREE Consumer Notification Service, the purpose of which is to alert residents to potential property fraud.

If you are an owner to real property in the communities of Penobscot County, click on the “Get Consumer Alerts” button at the bottom of the main page of the website PenobscotDeeds.com to sign up for the Consumer Notification Service free of charge. Once you set up your account and receive your password, login in with your email address and password and you will be able to input five names, individual or business, and the corresponding city or town, or all towns, for monitoring. If there is any future land recording activity using one of these names in the specified community, you will be alerted via email.

This will not stop a document from being recorded, but it will give you a quick notification that you may want to investigate the recorded document further. Because the Consumer Notification Service is necessarily name and not address driven, you may receive alerts for other individuals with the same name in the associated city or town.
